WhatsApp renders everything inside ```triple backticks``` literally, so *, _, and ~ are shown as characters instead of being applied. Code block is therefore exclusive in this tool — switching it on turns the other styles off so you never send a message full of visible markers.
Start a line with "- " or "* " for a bullet, "1. " for a numbered list, and "> " for a block quote. These are line prefixes rather than wrappers, so the marker goes at the start of each line — the Bullet list, Numbered list, and Block quote options above do it for every line at once.
WhatsApp's *asterisk* markers only work inside chat messages — in the status, the About line, group names, and contact names they show up as plain characters. Switch to the "Status & name fonts" tab above and copy one of the Unicode styles instead: those letters are different characters rather than a formatting instruction, so they render correctly in every one of those fields.
Press "Remove all formatting" under the text box. It strips paired asterisks, underscores, tildes, and backticks, plus bullet, number, and quote prefixes at the start of each line — handy when you've copied a formatted message and want the plain words back. A lone asterisk with no matching partner is left alone.
